This is the first of two Nicaraguan coffees that we are showcasing from the magic man Luis Balladarez this year.
It's yet another boozy and exciting drop for you to enjoy and is harvested from La Esperanza, his neighbouring farm to Mozonte that you will be able to enjoy soon.
Clean, crisp and complex. This coffee is yet another brilliant example of the direct trade relationship Right Side are building with Luis and is a chance to showcase the experimental natural mystic process they’ve been working on.
The cherries are fermented underwater with different resting periods to achieve cleaner and more defined notes. Following this the whole cherries are left on raised African beds under shade to dry for around 25 days.
Trading directly with farmers means that they are properly rewarded for their skill and craftsmanship and it is these relationships that we are looking to grow and develop year on year.
It’s also awesome for the farmer to know who’s roasting up their tasty beans on the other side of the world!
La Esperanza Coffee Farm:
Luis’ Finca (Farm) is called ‘La Esperanza’ and can be found in the Dipilto and Jalapa mountain range.
It shares a processing mill with his other Finca ‘Un Regalo de Dios’ meaning that they can pool their resources and continually look to improve the quality of their coffee each year.
Luis is the man bringing the energy to this operation, with a real focus on providing opportunities for people in producing coffee, not only economically but also in their day to day lives.
The farm is divided into micro lots based on location and coffee varietals which gives us the opportunity to roast these seriously high quality coffees for you.
