A roasting mistake that resulted in blended brilliance!
Redcurrant, blueberry & honey
We all make mistakes from time to time, in fact we embrace them here at Odd Kin.
Without mistakes, we can’t get better, and we love getting better!
Our wonderful Head Roaster Jess made her best ever mistake recently, accidentally dropping a drum full of juicy natural Nicaraguan coffee beans into a cooling tray of tasty blend coffee.
The result? A one off, never to be seen again batch of blended berry brilliance.
Slurp easy people, this one’s a real banger!

More about Jess' Accidental Blend:
Blended coffees are often perceived as inferior to single origins, associated with poor quality and mass production.
In reality, when it comes to speciality blends this couldn’t be further from the truth.
We really enjoy blending coffee beans at Odd Kin, so much so that we recently launched our Blend Friends Series, partnering with fellow UK roasters to experiment with flavour profiles and characteristics.
Coffee blends require complex chemistry skills and understanding to ensure the right extraction, and we’re lucky to have a brilliant team of roasters working hard to master this art.
Jess is our Head Roaster and a huge part of the team. Coffee obsessed with a serious eye for detail, she roasts hundreds of kilos for us a day with ease.
Since the moment she joined Odd Kin, we always knew she was a natural. Such a natural in fact, that she's even managed to create a batch of blended brilliance without meaning to.
Cheers Jess, this one's to you!
